On my old smartphone i could just hold down the end call key for a few
seconds and it would then lock the keyboard, is there something similar
for WM5 (I-mate kjam)?

What is your need?  i.e. to prevent accidental keypresses when talking
on the phone or to prevent someone else from accessing you device from
that point on?

Thanks for the reply. Yep, that's the lock i was thinking of but it's a
pain to have to get the stylus out, navigate down the menu system
before getting to the desired app - it would be easier to hold down the
end call ket for 2s to go into this state - like windows mobile 2003se.

Had a thought of trying to use the voice speed dial software that came
installed with the phone but it doesn't list button lock as an app.

That's the oem's decision on how the harddware buttons function.

You can, however, generate shortcut icons bring up the panel screen with
the desired tab open and assign it on one of the hardware buttons or put
it on the start menu... you will still have to tap the lock button and ok.

Can't remember the msdn reference page for this but it should be searchable.

??  Suspend the K-Jam.  That's just a tap of the power button. The option is
to disable the buttons and screen when you 'suspend' the unit. A tap on the
power button brings it back up. A call coming in can be responded to, as can
an alarm, as they bring it out of suspend. That's better than my
Smartphones. To turn them back on (unlock keys) myself I have to hit the
soft key and then the # to bring them out of suspend/key lock.

To turn the K-Jam completely off, you hold the power button down. It will
warn you about data loss (just what's in RAM). You don't need to do that
unless you are flying from the States to Australia and want battery left
when you get there.
